Michael Godard really gets into his paintings and this piece is a perfect example. It was a blur to him mostly because he wanted to capture the true look of a martini up close. After painting the glass, he accidentally smudged some paint on the piece. Standing back from it he took a really long look at the smudge trying to decide how to remove it without smearing the background. A feeling just came over Michael and he put down his brush and dipped his fingers in the paint and completed the rest like a 4-year old in preschool. There is no way he could have captured the essence of this piece with a brush alone. When this piece was printed, we used a Matte finish all over, with a high gloss finish on the glass to really give it the wet feeling.
